4.3 is an awesome motor. I have a 1994 W/T 1500 with the 4.3. It is an awesome motor, if mine was 4x4 i wouldnt hesitate putting a plow on it. This will give it a chance to drain a bit. Unless the air temp is dropping fast then you better give it a scrape. Other than that this should help your problem a bit but not fully. Both mount on your truck in a minute or so. I guess it's a matter of personal preference. Both do what you want. They both plow snow and do it well.
